Why this blog?
Well, blogging has become huge in education. If I am going to constantly "steal" ideas from generous sharing teachers, it is only right for me to also share some of mine for others to steal.
Twitter, Instagram, and blogging have opened up a world of professional development for teachers. I can't think of a better resource than sharing stories, ideas, strategies, advice, and lessons with thousands of other teachers.
Aside from sharing, I see blogging as a way to self-reflect. Writing about a lesson I recently taught will help me look back at what worked and what I could improve on for next time.
Although the focus of my blog is education, I plan to sprinkle it with some of my book reviews, photography and craft creations that come along the way!
In case you were wondering...
This is my 14th year teaching and although we're only half way through the year, it's the year I've seen myself grow the most! I will blog about this later.
I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. I am currently teaching 4th, which is the grade I've spent the most time in and absolutely love.
I was born and raised in NJ and have been living in South Florida for 11 years now.
I attended Rutgers University for undergrad and St. Peter's University for grad.
I love reading more than anything. I enjoy historical fiction, chic lit, and the classics. However, I could pick up anything that is recommended, that is a pop culture phenomenon, or that I happen to see someone in public engrossed with.
Photography is something I've always appreciated and truly enjoy. I've never seen time fly quicker than when I'm shooting or editing. If you need to know...I shoot with Canon. If you'd like to check out some of my photos: www.maitehernandez.shootproof.com
I love the sense of accomplishment I feel after seeing a craft come together for my home, classroom, or one of my kid's birthday parties.
If you ask me about my favorite color, my response will be purple; however, you will rarely see me wearing it.
I will pass on baked goods any day for ice cream!
